Introduce Yourself and tell us about Studio Moshon?
My name is Sara Riding and I am the CEO and Creative Director of Studio Moshon. Studio Moshon is a creative studio, based in Los Angeles devoted to unique and innovative storytelling. We leverage what we have learned working in the animation industry to create compelling animations and campaigns that truly engage audiences.
What led to your interest in starting Studio Moshon?
Some of my early commercial projects were working with interactive studio Powster combining my traditional animation background with digital innovation. The combination of the two worlds was really interesting to me.
A lot of the interactive work was for movie studios based in Los Angeles and we set our sights on moving to the US to set up studios there. My company Studio Moshon was founded in Los Angeles. My most recent work combines the traditional animation background I have with digital innovation and explores bringing art to life to help tell the story in an exciting and interesting way.
What is Studio Moshons unique selling point?
Most studios focus on either pure animation or digital creativity. Studio Moshon combines the two worlds and provides an innovative product that can draw attention to good causes and interest from social channels looking for engaging content.
What sacrifices have you made to become a successful entrepreneur?
I’ve moved to a new city, a new country and I’m further away from my support network than ever before.
How are you marketing your business?
Studio Moshon currently uses Instagram and our website to show off new and exciting projects we have completed. We also launched our AR Portrait gallery at the Women in Entertainment Summit in October as well as the Infinity Festival in November.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Make things happen.
What is your favorite business book? How has it helped in your business?
Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration by Ed Catmull. This book has put many aspects of management and creativity into perspective, giving a clearer outlook going forward in new ventures.
What do you like best about being an entrepreneur?
There is nothing better than being your own boss. With more freedom comes more responsibility and self-motivation.
What have been your most satisfying moments in business?
The most satisfying moments in business are creating projects from scratch and watching them come to life. Many of the successful projects of Studio Moshon have helped good causes. From positioning the AR community to look at helping the three key messages mentioned previously, to a penguin animation encouraging the elderly to adjust their thermostats keeping them safe. We’re a studio that cares about what we’re putting out there and wanting to push good causes.
