Introduce yourself and tell us about your business?
My name is Ali Shahanaghi and I am the CEO and co-founder of Swishlinks. Swishlinks is a social network for makers, creators, and doers to showcase their professional journey.
What made you choose this type of business and what is unique about it?
I realized the importance of connection and collaboration growing up, so I eventually became interested in creating a platform for people to do so.
What do you wish you knew before you started your business?
I wish I knew how to approach and work with more people in the types of industries that benefit from our app.
How do you use social media to market your business?
Since social media is such a huge part of our business, we have created company pages on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. We, also, will start advertising on those platforms as well. It is very important for us to be able to reach young, creative entrepreneurs, so we use any platform we can.
What did you learn from your biggest failure?
The importance of being surrounded by the proper team.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Plan and execute your idea with simplicity. Don’t make things too complicated and follow the path you want to be on.
What unique selling points (USPs) do you offer that your competition doesn’t?
Swishlinks is a platform built for anyone that doesn’t benefit from a strict corporate setting. People who are artists, personal trainers, event planners, designers, etc. are the ones using Swishlinks. We offer a much more visual representation of one’s work. Instead of writing a bullet point about your project, you can actually show it (using a photo, link, video, or even text) to keep your connections up-to- date on all your professional journey.
What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
Extensive work hours. I, also, had to find a balance between my professional and personal life.
What is your favorite book and why?
Actually, I read a lot of articles and my favorite is “The future of work is 5 billion customers looking for a good job.” It has helped me better understand the trends and opportunities in the workspace.
What is your future goal for the company?
Just to have a talented team that grows our creative company.
What have been your most satisfying moments in business?
The evolution of our team and product is the best thing I could have asked for.
